Historically, organizations have implemented ITAM solutions that provide inventory discovery information for hardware and software. This dimension of information answers the question: “What do I have?”
While this information is critical to insure an organization is in compliance with their ITIL standards concerning software and hardware purchases, it is not the whole story.
Today, inventory and purchase information is not enough. Tighter IT budgets have forced organizations to look for that missing dimension of information to achieve greater financial controls.
